Decompression diving on a closed-circuit rebreather to 45 m, with diluent and bailout gas containing up to 35% helium (plus or minus 5%) and 100% oxygen for decompression. TDI offers it as an alternative to Air Diluent CCR Decompression Procedures. TDI rebreather courses are unit specific. Train with NexGen Divers in Hurghada.
Who it suits
CCR divers, or open-circuit tec divers moving to a rebreather, who want helium in their diluent for decompression dives to 45 m.
Prerequisites
Minimum age 18, and one of two routes:
- Route A: 50 logged dives, Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures (or Helitrox Diver), and 5 staged decompression dives to 30 m or deeper.
- Route B: Air Diluent CCR Diver, with 30 hours and 30 dives on the unit and 6 months of CCR experience.
Training
TDI minimum: 60 minutes in confined water and 7 open water dives totalling 420 minutes.
Our training rebreather
The Dive Rite O2ptima CM clips to the front of your existing harness and is compatible with sidemount, back-mounted doubles or a single tank (Dive Rite). At NexGen we dive it with sidemount cylinders as our open-circuit bailout. It uses Dive Rite's dive/surface valve (DSV) and was not designed for a bailout valve (BOV). Dive Rite rates it to 40 m on air diluent and 100 m on trimix diluent.
